Nissan Scores Two First-Place Finishes in APEAL Study

The 2014 J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study saw Nissan receive first place in two market segments, along with several second- and third-place rankings for the automaker.

Conducted by the market research firm J.D. Power and Associates, the APEAL Study examines how satisfied automobile customers are with new vehicles they have purchased.  By asking tens of thousands of new car owners to rate their vehicle across 77 attributes - including styling, fuel economy, and in-car technology - the study is able to generate a score between 0 and 1000 points, which represents how satisfied new owners of that vehicle are after 90 days.  A higher score indicates more satisfaction, and has been linked to higher resale value for that vehicle.

Two Nissan vehicles topped their market segments this year - the Nissan Rogue received 786 points in the Compact SUV segment, while the Nissan Quest got 790 points in the Minivan segment.  Nissan also finished second-place in the Midsize Pickup and Large SUV segments, with the Frontier and Armada, respectively, and the Nissan Sentra placed third in the Compact Car segment.
